Make it two in a row for the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The Caps hosted the Langley Rivermen on Friday, Feb. 10 at The Stick and delighted fans with an exciting 5-2 victory.
Cowichan’s Luke Eurig scored his first of the game and sixth of the year 3:52 into the first period to start the Caps out on the right skate. Luke Lavery and Quinn Disher earned assists on the play.
After a Langley powerplay goal, three more Cowichan players got on the score sheet when Kai Dunits and William Elias fed Dryden Kuramoto for his third of the year.
Another Langley powerplay marker tied the game early in the second period but Elias scored three-quarters of the way through the middle stanza to regain Cowichan’s one-goal lead.
Ethan Dekay scored at 11:49 of the third period from Eurig and Disher before Luke Santilli fed Eurig for an empty netter with two minutes left to go in the game to ice the victory.
Both Langley goals were scored on the powerplay in a contest that saw the Caps take nine penalties including a five-minute major and two game misconducts.
The Coquitlam Express arrives in town next, for a Feb. 18 home game. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and that game is the first of three more home games this month, the other two being Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. against the Powell River Kings and Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. when the Victoria Grizzlies come to town.
