Chargers prepare to host soccer Islands with exhibition matches against Chemainus

DCS will also host provincials in early November

Duncan Christian School and Chemainus Secondary tuned up for the upcoming Island boys single-A soccer championships with a pair of exhibition games in the last couple of weeks.

DCS prevailed 5-3 last week, and Chemainus turned the tide with a 3-2 victory at the Cowichan Sportsplex on Wednesday.

Both teams will be among five taking part in the Island championships at the Sportsplex next Wednesday. Chemainus will face Brookes Westshore at 9 a.m., DCS will take on Glenlyon Norfolk at 10:45 a.m., and the winner of the first match will face St. Andrew’s at 12:30 p.m.

The losers of the second and third games will play for third place at 2 p.m, and the winners of the second and third games will play for first and second at 3:45 p.m.

The top two teams will advance to the provincial championships, which DCS is hosting at the Sportsplex on Nov. 1-3. If DCS finishes in the top two, the third-place team will also qualify for provincials.
