Thank you for Remembrance Day gesture
As a past member of the armed forces and a veteran, I attend Remembrance days faithfully.
This year something very special happened as I stood there with old Beret and Corp insignia shone brightly and the gongs dusted off and hung on my jacket while quietly awaiting the ceremonies.
A young lady approached me and gave me a hand drawn poppy on a buff piece of paper; inside was an inscription which read “Not all super heroes wear capes”. Beneath was a name: Akaysia Wikkerink.”
There were a lot of old war horses out there and I am sure many others received this beautiful gesture. Thank you young lady and thank you to the mother who accompanied her; people like you are why people like me volunteer to make our country safe.
There was a tear in my eye when I left today. God Bless you!
