Drug dealers should be charged with murder

Re: “Duncan woman arrested during drug raid”, Cowichan Valley Citizen, Thursday, Aug. 25

Congratulations to the RCMP Street Crime Unit, Police Dog Services, and frontline officers.

A need is required for more substantial consequences for people preying on the most vulnerable members of our community. How many people have lost their lives? Yet there don’t seem to be any consequences for the drug dealers. They know full well that fentanyl kills, yet they continue to profit from it; they should be charged with murder for each death they contribute to.

Drug dealers should be held accountable for all lives lost. If any of us intentionally poisoned someone, we would be arrested, charged with murder and do prison time, not probation.

When will the dealers be held accountable for the deaths they cause and the effects this poisoning has had on our society?

We hear about many drug trafficking arrests but rarely hear the results or the punishment, if any.
