Art gallery funding a no-brainer
Dear CVRD directors:
Local government annual line-funding for the prescient, world-class Cowichan Public Art Gallery is a no-brainer for local leaders who understand the massive potential and importance of Cowichan’s thriving arts-and-culture industry. Details about CPAG’s funding request appeared in the July 13, 2023 Citizen newspaper.
CVRD directors, please say ‘yes’ to the gallery’s reasonable funding ask. Appreciation of local arts in a civilized society such as ours is vital. As a North Cowichan taxpayer, I am sure willing to pay more for this gallery. CPAG’s inclusive, cogent concept will be a durable catalyst for arts jobs, plus bigger tourist and local dollars supporting arts and culture in Cowichan. We boast one of the highest levels of artists per capita in North America. This important gallery will boost our ranking even more. Expose us to more art!
