Aquatic Centre a great place to get fit

As fall approaches and the rains are nearing, it is time to start planning your indoor exercise regime.

There are many good gyms to attend here in the valley waiting for you to get back at it (or start to improve your fitness).

My favourite one is the Cowichan Aquatic Centre. It has the people and the equipment to meet your needs. I just found out there is an updated pool and land fitness class schedules. Check them out on the North Cowichan website or drop by the pool for pamphlets.

Upstairs is a fully equipped gym where you can find instruction with the equipment use at set times every day.

There are many land based drop in classes from 6 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Note: there are 6 a.m. classes all weekdays. Check with the front desk for the latest additions. Morning classes, lunch time classes and after work ones, too.

A dedicated spin room is also upstairs with at least one instructor-led class for your morning, lunchtime and afternoon pleasure Monday to Saturday. This space is also available during non-class time for individual use.

The gym has a separate yoga room offering yoga instruction to make sure you “Hatha” good time. This room is also open when classes are not in session.

The pools have a ton of classes throughout the day, including AquaSpin (how do you ride a bike in the water?), AquaBurn, and AquaLunch (12:10 - 12:55 all week).

You can also do lengths starting at 6 a.m. I often lose count and have to start again.

A bonus. If you want to take a class or go for a swim, there is free child minding from 8:30 to 11:30 every weekday!

Come out and enjoy your Aquatic Centre.

I am not associated with the pool, I am just a fanatical user.
