With Youbou’s Social Association flat lining with a lack of community support, Youbou residents are left the sole ones responsible.
The same applies to anyone in the Cowichan Lake area that has ever complained that there’s “nothing to do.”
First off, as the Gazette points out every week, there is plenty to do, pending one’s tastes in entertainment.
If your needs aren’t being met in the Cowichan Lake area, it’s your own fault.
Several local groups have already recognized this, and are hard at work organizing the Garden Club, renewing the BMX park, putting together Lake Days, and all other volunteer-driven events and activities.
Now, Cowichan Lake Community Services has opened up another opportunity for local kids to enjoy themselves, with this Friday’s meeting to plan a youth drop-in centre.
The opportunities related to this drop-in centre are as endless as people are willing to contribute their time and expertise.
The common excuse is that people are “too busy.”

Friday’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Hall’s old fire hall bays.
