Christianity unfairly shunned by schools

I found David Lowther’s response to Perry Foster’s letter to be curious to say the least.

I found David Lowther’s response to Perry Foster’s letter to be curious to say the least.

It is hard to believe that any seven-year-old, as he says, would be thinking about “the true nature of the world” when enduring Bible readings and prayers as a child in school. He must have been a child old before his time!

What he talks about is ancient history. This is no longer what is happening in our schools and hasn’t for a long time. The situation today is exactly the opposite! If the school system is advocating tolerance and openness, it must be fair for all. Teach all religions or none. That is surely not the case today. We have native spirituality and secular humanism taught openly. You don’t dare talk about Christian belief. Children who attend a Christian church or who believe in a Creator God are scorned. Christians are only pleading for equal time, that is all. So celebrate Hanukah and also Christmas and any other religious holiday. But don’t just exclude the Christians. That is not fair in a society, who, through its Charter of Rights and Freedoms, promises freedom of speech and freedom of religion for all. Otherwise all of Mr. Lowther’s statements are just a sham!

I, for one, will celebrate Christmas as it has been for almost 2,000 years and wish you all a politically incorrect Merry Christmas.
