Kingsley Benjamin Buss’s letter regarding his personal trek to the Kohima Memorial at Stoltz Pool was heartwarming. It was so honourable of him to pay tribute all alone on Nov. 11 to “The Forgotten Army” in Burma.

He concludes by suggesting that a small gathering and service on future Remembrance Days might be in order at this site.

Please feel comforted Mr. Buss as yearly (water levels permitting) a large contingent of boaters do hold a small ceremony at the Burma memorial just prior to paddling the Cowichan River.

This particular year, two Canadian Legion representatives attended and were the main speakers. Over 40 people, canoeists, kayakers and their families from the Cowichan Valley and beyond as well as many members of VCKC (Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club) held vigil during the ceremony.

We remembered them. We will not forget.
