CBC wrong in story on Epoch Times

Recently the CBC took the opportunity to condemn the Epoch Times for its reporting of China’s role in the COVID-19 crisis we are all, unfortunately, having to suffer through. If the subject itself had not been so grave their efforts could have been seen as amusing. Our national broadcaster accused the Epoch Times of being racist. It might be wise if they did their homework before dropping what has become the ultimate “nuclear bomb” accusation of our “woke” post modern culture.

The Epoch Times was founded by Chinese dissidents fighting the excesses of the communist regime and has a large number of Chinese correspondents currently reporting from international locations. So how can they be “racist” against the Chinese? In any case, does the CBC even know in what sense they are using the term “racist” or has this term just become the go to appellation for anyone they, and others, dislike or disagree with?

In any case, the Epoch Times has accurately reported the events happening in China in order to create an accurate and realistic picture of a regime that deserves no one’s defence or apology. For their troubles their office in Hong Kong was fire torched and destroyed, all recorded on video for the world to see.

There is a reason the Epoch Times is now the fastest growing independent newspaper in North America, and there is an equal reason that the CBC is struggling, needs to be constantly propped up with vast infusions of cash, and has a dropping viewership. Perhaps falsely accusing people of racism and needlessly playing up to extremist ideology might have something to do with it.
