Canada needs to do better than corporate controlled government

Re: Surely we can do better

On Sept. 15, Andrew Scheer was reported as saying that he will stand by Conservative candidates with racist, homophobic past comments as long as they apologize.

On Sept. 19, Scheer was reported as saying, “…I was extremely shocked and disappointed when I learned of Justin Trudeau’s actions…it was just as racist in 2001 as it was in 2019.” Scheer said also that Trudeau is “not fit to govern this country”. To quote “Andrew Scheer’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.”

Andrew Scheer has all the substance and depth of oil on water — a boyish face on the Corporate Conservative Party, just as Junior Trudeau is a pretty face on the Corporate Liberal Party. As the masks crumble, we can see underlying realities.

We can do better than continue handing reins of power to political parties that are little other than window dressing for corporations, which are special interest groups whose interests are limited to their own profit and power, at the expense of all else.

As we heard during Earth Guardians’ Climate Strike in Duncan last Friday, unless we do better, our children will be living with the consequences and paying the cost.
