With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Terry Christine Baird (nee Flanders), who slipped away peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2019, at the Regina General Hospital.
Terry was born to the late Bud and Val Flanders in Vancouver, BC on October 22, 1950. She is survived by her husband Graham Baird; three daughters Tricia Mayea (Ron), Terra Baird and Riley Nicholson; and grandchildren Jordan, Rylan, Mackenzie and Dawson. The grief of Terry's passing is also shared by her siblings Sue (late Laurae), Liz (late John), Scott and Jen (Cliff); numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family and friends.
As a child Terry's family moved often and settled in Blueberry Creek, BC when she was a teenager - a place where some of her fondest memories were formed. A consummate and animated storyteller, friends and family adored hearing of her childhood escapades. It was during this time that Terry met Graham and the two were married in Castlegar, BC in 1970. They moved to Youbou, BC shortly thereafter to start a family. It didn't take long for the young family to bravely pack up for new adventures, landing in places like Celista, Scotch Creek, Powell River, Revelstoke, and eventually returning to Youbou in 1986. Terry was funny and charming, she had a magnetic personality and a knack for conversation, easily drawing people in and making many life-long friends along the way.
Always selfless, Terry was a loving and devoted wife and mother who was fiercely protective of her family. She was an absolute care giver in both her personal and professional life - a stay-at-home mom, a home support worker, and finally a playschool teacher. Terry loved being a playschool teacher and spent the last 18 years of her working career at the Youbou Playschool. She was dedicated, well-respected, and instrumental in shaping the lives of many children during that time.
Multi-talented - Terry loved cooking, baking, photography, singing, acting, painting, gardening and storytelling. She was famous for her cooking and baking; it was a passion of hers throughout her life and she was really, really good at it.
In 2008, Terry and Graham settled in Torquay, SK where she fell in love with the beauty of the area and captured it through the lens. A new found passion, Terry had an amazing and exciting journey through photography. Many hours were spent pursuing, capturing and sharing her magnificent photos, connecting with and learning from fellow photographers, and building new friendships. Her talent was undeniable - she could find beauty in a mud puddle.
Accomplished wife, mother, caregiver, cook, artist and photographer; Terry is truly an inspiration and will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Night all!
