After a long courageous battle with cancer (mesothelioma), Marie passed away peacefully at home on August 5th, 2010.
Rosemarie Janet Augustine (nee: Boyles) was born February 10, 1940 at home in Shawnigan Lake. She attended school at Bench Elementary and Cowichan Secondary School. She worked at the telephone offices in Cobble Hill, Duncan and Lake Cowichan. She also worked at the Mesachie Forestry and Research Station. She was an active community member of Youbou where she lived since 1963. Many have commented on the significant impact Marie made in their lives through her demonstrations of kindness and strength. Among other things, people will remember the cakes she decorated for special events as well as her knowledge of gardening.
Many thanks to the people who supported and cared for Marie and her family during her illness; especially Dr. Froese, the Home Care Nursing staff, Lorne and Verle Leaky, Bonnie Payne, Cathy Woodrow, Brook and Wilma Hodson. Marie will be missed by her husband Floyd, her daughter Debbie (Darcy Mayo), her sons Ron and Greg (Denise). She will be missed by her brothers and sisters; Ted Boyles (Bunny), June Luscombe (Ron), Don Boyles (Trudy). Her grandchildren will also miss her; Dustin Mayo (Kristal), Davis Mayo, Skye and Arianna Augustine. Countless other family and friends will miss and remember Marie. Please join the family for a celebration of life at Youbou Community Hall, Friday August 13, 2010, 1 - 4 pm.
