March 21, 1944 - August 15, 2018
It is with great sadness that Heather, Cindy, Kenny, Kevin, Winnie and Joey his Spaniel, announce the sudden passing of our special husband, Father, Papa, son, brother, Uncle, and friend.
Ken was born on March 21, 1944 and passed away with grace and dignity on August 15, 2018 with his loving family at his side. Ken is the forever husband of Heather for 51 1/2 years, a devoted Father to Cindy (Kevin) and Kenny (Winnie). The proudest Papa of his four precious Grandchildren; Allyssa, Patrick (Paige), Marin and Emmy, he was a "hands on" Papa.
Ken was always there for them, when they needed him, in whatever activity they were involved in, he was their biggest fan in life and adored them all. He was respected by all that knew him, Ken had a strong work ethic and had enjoyed his career at the Youbou Mill as an A Class Saw Filer, always being proud of the work he had done. When his nephew Matt had decided he wanted to follow his Uncles footsteps as a Saw Filer he was elated.
A simple man, he loved wood working and spent many hours happily playing on his lathe and turning out incredibly beautiful bowls, trays, and vases that he would often give to his family and friends. He would also build, design and create any furniture for Heather she had asked for, Lucky her! He loved fly fishing, tying his own flies, and all that goes with his hobby. Ken had the gift of gab, a kind and loving heart, along with being the Canucks biggest fan on the Island he enjoyed talking sports with all that would listen. He loved a wee nip of single malt from time to time and his favourite colour was "plaid" .
We wish to sincerely thank the professional members of the CDH Emergency Staff for the kind and supportive care for Ken along with Dr. Ismail, Dr. O'Malley and Dr. Toth for their exceptional care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, Ken would have appreciated donations to the Duncan SPCA.
"Papa always had jokes when we saw each other every single time. He was a happy man and was helpful. I will miss him" - Love Marin.
Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day.... Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed.
