John Fergus DUNCAN

A celebration of the life of John F. Duncan was held February 17, 2007 at St. Christopher’s and St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, in Lake Cowichan, with Rev. David Peterson officiating.

John was born in Palmerston, Nz. and immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950’s. Prior to teaching at the local high school, John taught in New Zealand, London, England, North Vancouver, Toronto, Moose Factory, Ont., Netherlands and Revelstoke, BC.

Since living in Lake Cowichan, John became very involved in the community. Besides his teaching and coaching rugby at Lake Cowichan High School, he was president of the Seniors’ Assoc., served as a board member and president of the Mid-Island Co-op and served on the board of the Evergreen Society. John was an avid outdoorsman. enjoying camping, hiking, fishing and very proud of his vegetable garden. John was a great reader of many selections and had a flair for Giles cartoons.

John is survived by his wife of twenty years, Helen; son, Scott (Carolyn), Revelstoke, B.C.; daughter, Anneli, Dawson Creek, B.C.; sister, Dorothy, Nz. and special grand-daughters, Kaarina and Marissa, Revelstoke, B.C.; also numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by son, Neil.
