Hazel Mary TANNER (nee Smith)

Hazel Tanner passed away gently in her sleep in the Palliative Care Ward of Lion’s Gate Hospital. She was a long time resident of Lion’s Bay. She truly loved her home. She is survived by: her husband of 66 years Gerald Tanner, sons; Tony (Heather) and Adrian (Doreen) and her daughter Jill (Tie), grandchildren; Chris and Sarah, Roy and Kate, Taylor and Kelly, and Kim, great-grandchildren; Max and Jack, Michelle and Raphaelle, Kai and Coco.

Hazel was born in Croyden, England on December 31st, 1924 to Irene and Charles J. Smith. She worked with the Medical Officer of Health in Croyden during World War II. She married Gerald Humphrey Tanner on March 25, 1944. They settled in British Columbia in 1969. She enjoyed travelling, garden work, long walks, sailing and all kinds of needlework.

The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Ward of Lion’s Gate Hospital. Their care was compassionate and professional.

Hazel will be missed.
