November 27th, 1941 – April 12th, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce Garry’s sudden but peaceful passing with his family by his side, April 12th at Royal Jubilee Hospital. He will be deeply missed by all. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Dena, son Scott Robert (Sarah), grandchildren Payton and Tristan, daughter Kristy (Calvin) and grandchildren Chase and Jordie, sister Gail and large extended families on both sides. Garry will always be remembered for his pride in his family, devotion to his wife and many other passions which included his ‘mighty’ Canucks, involvement and contribution to the Kaatza Lakeside Players community theatre and hunting with Al. Some of Garry’s favourite times were shared while playing hockey, slo-pitch and on the road with the Ol’ Flashers, travelling to Japan to visit Scott, fishing at the ‘Nook’ with his Mum and Dad, vacationing in hot climates, cheering Kris’ boys hockey games, weekends with his granddaughters, helping Kris and Cal build their home, tea with Gail, any socializing where thick steaks and good friends were present, seeing his hard work and vision come alive on the stage and walking Tai-Tai. Garry’s most recent joy was volunteering at the Olympics with the Whistler tech team. Special thanks to Dr. George and to Patty and Beth in the ICU at Royal Jubilee Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on April 22nd, 1 pm at the Lake Cowichan Centennial Hall.

“He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song...”

...Goodnight Garry
