July 3, 1923 - March 4, 2019
Passed peacefully on March 4th in Cowichan District hospital at the age of 95 after a brief illness which she faced with courage and her trademark wit surrounded by loving family and friends.

Born on July 3, 1923 in the Shoreditch district of London England as a young woman Betty worked in support of the War effort where in 1945 she met Gordon, a Canadian serviceman on a blind date who she married later that year and followed to Canada as war bride in 1946 eventually settling in Lake Cowichan where they raised their children (Jackie, Lynn, and Don).

Known affectionately as Nana to her 5 grandchildren and Gigi to her 10 great grandchildren, Betty also leaves behind nieces and nephews in Canada and the UK as well as her brother Ron in New Zealand.

Betty later married John Tuck and they spent many years together. Over the years Betty lived in various communities around the Lake and worked as a telephone operator and at the Rainbow Lunch restaurant

In her later years she lived on her own at Evergreen place and could often be seen walking or piloting her scooter around town.

Although small in stature she had a huge spirit for life and the love of her family and friends as well as her beloved pets. She maintained a connection to her British roots via a love for sweets, baking, and British Telly such as Coronation street, Heartbeat, and Inspector George Gently.

Special thanks to Dr Sanders, Dr Wilhelm, and the nurses on the 3rd floor for your dedication, comfort, and compassion for both Betty and the family during a difficult time.

No service at Betty's request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
