Telephone company scam artist in our midst

A suspicious individual has been posing as a representative from a telephone company, going door to door advising people that they owe the company he represents money for services rendered.

Lake Cowichan RCMP are warning that a vodka bottle stolen over the weekend is in fact full of rat poison.

A suspicious individual has been posing as a representative from a telephone company, going door to door advising people that they owe the company he represents money for services rendered.

Lake Cowichan RCMP are requesting assistance from the public in identifying the suspicious individual. Anyone who has encountered a similar situation is asked to call the Lake Cowichan RCMP at 749-6668.

Copper wire theft

A large quantity of copper wire was stolen from a light standard in the Slopes residential area.

A report of the theft came into the Lake Cowichan RCMP office on Tuesday, March 8. If anyone has information regarding this theft, contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP at 749-6668, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Rumour untrue

A small town rumour spreading around Cowichan Lake of a local RCMP officer being beaten up recently are untrue, Lake Cowichan Cpl. Krista Hobday said, when asked about the alleged incident.

"No, they're all fine," the corporal said, of local RCMP members, laughing at the rumour.
