The Cowichan Valley Regional District is inviting the public to attend virtual open houses on its Regional Active Transportation Plan.

Scheduled in-person events are cancelled due to caution over COVID-19 transmission, but the upcoming virtual meetings will provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the future of human-powered transportation opportunities in the Cowichan region.

The planning project is looking to establish direction and priorities for accessible, safe, convenient and enjoyable transportation options for people of all abilities.

The project will explore opportunities for expanded walking and cycling/rolling networks which provide alternatives to private automobile use.

The virtual open houses will be held on Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m.; Jan. 22 at 10 a.m.; and on Jan. 24, beginning at noon.

To register for the open houses, go to www.planyourcowichan.ca.

The public is also invited to check out the above website to learn more about the project and complete the online survey to share their ideas and priorities for active transportation opportunities across the Cowichan region.
