Charges laid in drug bust on Rockridge Road in July

Eric Alexander Derish, 38, of Duncan faced with a total of 14 charges

Eric Alexander Derish, 38, of Duncan is facing a total of 14 charges related to a major drug bust on Rockridge Road in July.

They include four counts of possession of fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine and methamphetamine, four counts of possession of a restricted firearm without being the holder of a licence, three counts of possess firearm with readily accessible ammunition, and three counts of possession of a firearm with its serial number altered, defaced or removed.

A second man involved in the investigation has not been charged.

A Hazmat team from Sidney’s BC Hazmat Management Ltd. spent the day on July 24 assessing exactly how much, if any, fentanyl remained in the house after the police raid.

With the presence of fentanyl in the house, the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP treated the situation as high risk and immediately sought the assistance of the RCMP’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team to assist with the seizure.
