VIDEO: Award-winning cellist, Rebecca Wenham, performs at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre

Principal cellist at Vancouver Opera, she brings a show called ‘Cellicious’ to Duncan

In a very special Sunday matinee performance, classical music lovers will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the incredible talent of Vancouver Opera’s principal cellist Rebecca Wenham during this season’s third installment of the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre’s Noteworthy Classical Concert Series.

On Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m., Rebecca Wenham will perform Cellicious with Noteworthy Classical Concerts Series hosts The Bergmann Piano Duo.

This spring concert will feature a beautiful selection of works by Bach, Bernstein, Britten, Bergmann and much more offering a wonderful array of cello repertoire that will demonstrate the lyrical and romantic as well as the dramatic and rhythmical qualities of this transcendent instrument.

Wenham’s performances have been described as “silken and highly refined” by the Globe and Mail with an “extraordinary commitment and maturity” as described by La Gazette. Her animated playing style is often surprising, dramatic and impulsive leaving the audience breathless on the edge of their seats.

With the unique ambience of the Noteworthy Classical Concert Series, audience members will experience a rare opportunity to see Wenham perform just feet away, seated onstage in an intimate, friendly setting. In this upcoming concert the musicians deliver a versatile musical experience like no other. They perform their selections, discuss their careers and their instruments of choice and engage with the audience on a personal level inviting the audience to interact with them before, during and after the performance.

With only two performances left, the 2018-19 classical concert series is winding down and organizers will be inviting audience members during the Noteworthy Classical Concert on Sunday, March 24 and at the season finale on April 15, to provide their feedback on this season’s series by participating in a voluntary survey. Patrons will be asked to comment on the existing season and its new format and provide their advice and comments on shaping next year’s concert series so that organizers can continue to provide a unique and engaging experience for devoted classical music lovers.

Tickets are $28 each. Get them in person at the Cowichan Ticket Centre or by phone 250-748-7529 or online at cowichanpac.ca.
