Every Chemainus Classical Concerts performance is not to be missed, but the Sunday, April 24 program Hand In Hand at St. Michael’s Church in Chemainus especially fits the bill.
After an enthusiastically received eight-hands recital in 2019, pianists Ann Mendenhall, Catharina de Beer, Emily Armour and Rykie Avenant return with a new program for four, six and eight hands at one piano.
“As you can imagine, pieces for eight hands create very unique challenges and are very entertaining to hear and see,” noted Avenant, who’s also the artistic co-director for Chemainus Classical Concerts. “Bookended by two of these, the program also features several pieces for six hands and some gorgeous works for four hands by Bach, Händel, Dvorak and Poulenc.”
It promises to be a joyful celebration of collaboration after many months of physical distancing.
As of press time, there are only a few tickets left. People interested in purchasing tickets are advised to call Eleanor Montour at 250-748-8383 to reserve because there’s no guarantee any will be available at the door.
