Social Planning Cowichan surveyor Greg Awai would like to know how you access family doctors.

Social Planning Cowichan is seeking your input on local residents' access to family doctors.

"Doctors want to find out how people are making decisions within the Cowichan Valley," surveyor Greg Awai said, at a survey booth he'd set up at the Lower Centennial Hall, during the Cowichan Lake District Chamber of Commerce's Thursday, March 17, public meeting.

The Division of Family Practice, which makes up a large majority of the Cowichan Valley's family practice doctors, has commissioned Social Planning Cowichan to seek public input on a variety of doctor issues.

Are there barriers to health care access? Do people have family doctors? Would the area like a walk in clinic?

A multitude of questions are covered in the survey.

So far, Awai said that he's heard the same thing time and time again in the Cowichan Lake area.

"I've heard concerns that there not being a walk in clinic in the area," he said.

Awai said that he hasn't gone through the surveys yet, but this is the input he's hearing the most frequently.

Surveys results will be handed back to the doctors by mid-April.

Until then, input can be provided through online, at www.socialplanningcowichan.org.
