Buzzing with hockey action throughout the weekend, the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena saw three local teams play games, Saturday, October 1.
The day started at 8 a.m., with Peewee 1 beating Juan de Fuca 5-3.
Next up was the Bantam League team beating Kerry Park in a narrow victory, and then Peewee 2 beating Kerry Park 5-3.
The day ended with the Novice League team losing against Cowichan Valley 3, 6-12.
Coach Mike Waller said that the loss didn’t beat down the kids’s excitement.
“It looks like a really great group, and they’re already great at skating,” he said. “There’s a big learning curve.”
At this age level (7-8), they’re still learning the rules of the game, he said.
It was the team’s first game of the season.
