Valley rugby players in the mix for B.C. teams

Provincial team camps taking place at Shawnigan and UBC

Nine Cowichan-based rugby players from the U18 girls North Island Tsunami team that won the bronze medal at the Provincial Regional Championships have been invited to the camp this week that will pick the provincial team for the upcoming Western Canadian Championships.

Mikayla Brennan-McCann, Kaitlyn Crichton, Deanna Cvitanovich, Mia Eagar, Skye Koyote, Gracie McAllister, Maxine O’Leary and Chloe Storie-Soth were invited from the U18 Tsunami to the U17 provincial team selection camp, and Kiara Stecko was invited to the U18 selection camp.

Camps for provincial age grade teams begin this week at Shawnigan Lake School and the University of British Columbia. At least one Cowichan Valley player is in attendance at each camp.

Mackenzie Justason, Aidan Kirkham, Justin Marinier and Malcolm Shields were invited to the U17 boys camp, and Logan Kits and Dylan Taylor were invited to the U18 boys camp.

Other invitees include Gerry Atkins (U16 girls), Clayton Bergstrom and Dylan Cleaver (U16 boys), Jasmine Mohtadi and Anna Palmer (U15 girls), and Oliver Clarke (U15 boys).
