One Cowichan Bulldogs football team will play for its provincial championship this weekend, while another will have to wait until spring.
Both the bantam and peewee Bulldogs teams qualified for their provincial nine-man championships: the bantams by winning their league semifinal over the Comox Raiders on Nov. 6, and the peewees as runners-up in the Island 12-man league.
The bantams will travel to Langley for their provincial final against Meadow Ridge on Saturday, starting at noon and broadcast for free on the VBNsports YouTube channel.
The peewee Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play this weekend as well, but due to the extreme flooding across B.C., their provincial tournament has been rescheduled for April 10, just prior to the start of the spring peewee season. The Bulldogs will play in a three-team tournament along with the champions from the Mainland and Interior leagues.
