On July 13, players from the Lake Cowichan peewee team the Lakers were seen flagging down passersby outside of Country Grocer.

The kids, along with their parents, were on day one of a two day fundraising initiative to help pay for expenses to get them to the provincials in Rutland, Kelowna on Aug. 2 through to the 6, as well as the 10 team tournament taking place in Victoria on July 26, 27, and 28. The top three teams from this tournament will move on to the provincials.

The team will be holding another hot dog sale on July 20, in the Country Grocer parking lot, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
