Rowers are making their way back to the water and the Maple Bay Rowing Club hopes to see some new faces this year.

Through the club’s Community Sport For All Initiative, the club is hosting a number of Women on Water events, where women and girls are encouraged to get out and enjoy the sport.

“If you identify as a female of any age and are wanting to try a new sport, come join in on our open days over March Break,” said the club. “No experience [is] necessary, we will teach you all the basics that you need to know to have fun on the water.”

The first session runs on March 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Art Mann Park at 5990 Indian Rd. Participants can register for the first or second hour of the session.

Maple Bay Rowing Club on Beaumont Avenue is the site of the other two clinics, March 19 and March 24, both from noon to 2 p.m. Participants can register for the first or second hour of the session.

What’s more, there are also two Newcomers Outdoor Row clinics slated for March 21 at Art Mann Park and March 22 at the Maple Bay Rowing Club. Contact the club for times. Those with questions are encouraged to email coach Andrew Rae at arae9593@gmail.com or visit the maplebayrowingclub.ca or to register.
