Lake Atoms take Gold

The Lakers’Atom team won Gold at a tournament in Comox on the March 24-25 weekend. They began the tourney with a 5-5 tie against Comox Preferred Woodfinishing.

Goal scorers were Max Baird and Kevin Stewart with two, and Aaron Croteau picking up a single. Max Baird walked away with the Digger award.

Lakers won the second game 7-4 with Joey Janzen picking up the hat trick, Aaron Croteau with two and singles going to Brooklynn Brown and Kevin Stewart. Joey Janzen won the Digger award.

Game three was a 6-3 win over the Ives Burger Sharks with Kevin Stewart and Max Baird netting two goals each and singles going to Aaron Croteau and Joey Janzen. Quinn Major won the Digger award.

Game 4 was a playoff game for first place and resulted in a nail biting 4-3 win. Joey Janzen scored two goals and Kevin Stewart added one to give the local team a 3 to 1 lead before Comox came back with two goals to tie the game. Kevin Stewart scored the winning goal with only 1:44 left on the clock. Shauna Johel walked away with the Digger award. It was Gold in the end.

Lakers ended the season first in the league, then in the playoffs and now ending the season with gold as well. Both head coach David Janzen and I are very proud of the kids. They worked very hard all season.
