Kerry Park Islanders open 2nd round series at home on Saturday

Isles will face Peninsula Panthers in South Division final

After their stunning sweep in the first round of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League playoffs, the Kerry Park Islanders will begin the second round at home on Saturday night.

The Isles thrashed the Victoria Cougars 4-0 in the South Division semifinals, which wrapped up on Tuesday night. Now they are facing the Peninsula Panthers in the South Division final.

The second-round schedule is as follows:

Game 1: Saturday, March 5 at Kerry Park Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Game 2: Monday, March 7 at Panorama Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Game 3: Friday, March 11 at Panorama Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Game 4: Saturday, March 12 at Kerry Park Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Game 5 (if necessary): Friday, March 18 at Panorama Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Game 6 (if necessary): Saturday, March 19 at Kerry Park Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Game 7 (if necessary): Sunday, March 20 at Panorama Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m.

The Isles entered the playoffs as the South Division’s fourth seed, then swept the top-seeded Cougars in the first round. The Panthers went in as the second seed and beat the third-seeded Westshore Wolves 4-2.

The teams met 10 times in the regular season, with the Panthers winning seven times and the Isles winning three times.
