The Kerry Park Islanders and Lake Cowichan Kraken will only cross paths twice during the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s upcoming regular season, but that’s OK. They’ll get their fill of each other in one weekend of preseason play.

The Isles and the expansion Kraken will square off three times in three days between Aug. 27 and 29.

The teams will meet at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena on Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m., at Kerry Park Arena on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m., and back at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena again on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Both teams will also have exhibition games against other VIJHL clubs. The Kraken will play a home-and-home series against the Nanaimo Buccaneers on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the Nanaimo Ice Centre at 7:15 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 3 at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena at 7:30 p.m.

The Isles will visit the Comox Valley Glacier Kings at the Comox Valley Sports Centre on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

The regular season kicks off for the Kraken on Wednesday, Sept. 8, when they visit the Westshore Wolves. The Isles will open their regular season at home against the Kraken on Saturday, Sept. 11.
