Former Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Matt Crasa keeps collecting honours during his rookie season with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks in the NCAA.

Crasa was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Month for December after scoring four goals and assisting on two others for six points in five games. Crasa’s 1.20 points per game led all Hockey East rookies in December, and he leads all River Hawks freshmen with 12 points, which is also good for third among all first-year players in the league.

Crasa was named the Hockey East co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 12, and was picked as Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 4 after posting four points in his first two games of the season.

The 20-year-old from New York City played the 2019-20 campaign with the Cowichan Valley Capitals and led the team in goals with 25. He also finished third in team scoring with 44 points in 51 games.
