Duncan Christian hosting Island girls A basketball championships

Five teams battle for two spots in provincials

Duncan Christian School is hosting the Island senior girls single-A basketball championship this Friday and Saturday.

The field includes the host Chargers, top-seeded St. Andrew’s, Glenlyon Norfolk, Maaqtusiis and Gold River, making their Island championship debut.

DCS will tip off against Maaqtusiis at 2 p.m. on Friday, with the winner facing GNS at 7 p.m.

Also on Friday, St. Andrew’s will play Gold River at 4 p.m. The winners of the last two games on Friday will meet for the Island title at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Consolation games will take place on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The top two teams from the Island tournament will advance to the provincial championships in Langley.
