Derby Dames go out with victory

Reapers of Malice have impressive roller derby debut

The Brass Knuckle Derby Dames wrapped up the 2019 roller derby season with a thriller at the Cowichan Exhibition’s Mellor Hall last Saturday.

It took extra time for BKDD to defeat the Eves of Destruction Hard Cores from Victoria by a narrow 175-172 margin.

“It was such a good game, and the teams were incredibly well matched,” BKDD assistant captain Stephanie (She Wrecks) Farrow commented.

Fans came out once again for the roller derby action, the post-match roller disco, the beer garden and food trucks.

“We had a great spectator turn out and excellent fan involvement,” Farrow said. “It was quite an exciting finale.”

The night started with a match between the new BKDD junior team The Reapers of Malice and the Eves of Destruction Rotten Apples, won 183-140 by the Victoria team.

“It was the first game for our new juniors and they did a great job holding their own,” Farrow said. “We couldn’t be more proud of them.”
