Duncan Christian School multi-sport star Danielle Groenendijk has had an impressive spring, locking down a Volleyball BC all-star award along with two silver medals at the B.C. Christian Schools track and field championships.

Groenendijk co-captained the Nanaimo Mariners to a sixth-place finish at the Provincial Club Volleyball U18 Girls Championship at the Richmond Oval in April. The Mariners lost a couple of their matches in three close sets — results that could have gone either way and might have given the team a shot at a medal.

Later on, Groenendijk was one of 12 U18 players from across the province named a Volleyball BC Season All-Star. She was selected for the honour based on her excellent sportsmanship, leadership, exceptional volleyball skills, and contribution to a positive team environment at Volleyball BC tournaments, the third season in a row she has been named a season all-star.

Also in April, Groenendijk represented DCS at the B.C. Christian track championships, winning a silver in the women’s shot put with a personal best of 8.11 metres, and adding another silver in the women’s 100m. Groenendijk also finished fifth in the women’s javelin.
