Janelle Mould and Marilou Sullivan each scored three touchdowns as the Crew defeated Blue Steel 50-6 in the Cowichan Women’s Football League last Sunday.
Mould added a convert and four interceptions, and Sullivan also had a convert in the victory, while Abby Sullivan had a touchdown and two sacks, Amanda Morton also scored, and Kate Collins had a pair of interceptions.
Although the Crew and Blue Steel played only once on the weekend, several teams had multiple games, including the Ravens, who won both of their contests, beating the Ruckers on Friday and defeating the Storm 38-18 on Sunday. Kat Olsen, Leah McCormick, Chelsea Strandlund and Megan Lee had touchdowns for the Ravens on Friday, and on Sunday, Lee opened the scoring with a long touchdown run on the first play of the game and later added a pick six. McCormick also scored twice and added a convert, Strandlund and Jamie Russell had one touchdown apiece, and Brin Wylie recorded a sack.
The Ruckers were on the losing end on Friday, but bounced back to beat the Wild 19-6 on Sunday. Hannah McKevitt finished the weekend with two touchdowns for the Ruckers, and Jenna Bugden and Dani Robb added one each. McKevitt, Lenneke Vinoly and Sara Kaljuvee had interceptions, McKevitt, Bugden and Tyson Beukeboom had one sack apiece, and Bugden picked off a convert attempt and ran it back for a single point.
The Wild didn’t get many breaks, but they did get two touchdowns and two interceptions from Dieneke Pedersen, and two more picks from Ashley Bond.
Also on Friday night, the Law defeated the Storm 41-18, getting three touchdowns and two converts from Wendy Charles, two touchdowns from Bryn Piper and one from Jaimie Olson. Tanya Green had two converts and Pattie Atkinson had one, and Leanne Closson added an interception. Over their two games, the Storm got three touchdowns from Chelsea Morton, two from Annie Zurrer and one from rookie Ronnie Brown, while the defence got two sacks from Vicky Harris and three picks from Rachel Paddle.
