After hosting last year’s Vancouver Island finals, the Cowichan Rugby Club will play host to the crossover 2022 BC Rugby Age-Grade finals later this year.

It will be the first time the Age-Grade club season will wrap up with an Island versus Mainland game since the pandemic began. While the Age-Grade finals were held last year on the Mainland and on the Island, the crossover contests between the two regions were not.

The event will run at the Herd Road fields on Dec. 4 after clubs contest their respective U16 and U18 Boys and Girls Vancouver Island and Lower Mainland finals the Sunday before.

The U14 finals will be held separately.

“As part of the long-term athlete development pathway, U14 teams will contest Mainland and Island Finals on Nov. 27,” said BC Rugby. “This is following the decision to adjust the Age-Grade Bandings for the 2022/23 season and beyond to align with the 2022 Rugby Canada Age-Grade Law Variations and the current BC Bears pathway.”

While the finals mark the end of one rugby season, BC Rugby said the 2022/23 Age-Grade club fall season schedule will be released soon.
