Cowichan Cougars host Castaways in provincial showdown

Cougars looking for first win against Island rivals this year

The Cowichan Cougars will be looking for their first win of the season over Castaways when the two soccer teams square off at the Sherman Road turf this Friday.

Castaways are the only team that has been able to beat the Cougars this season — once in league play, and again in the Stephanie Shergold Cup final on March 27 — and the clubs will meet for the third and final time when they open the provincial Masters Women’s B Cup tournament.

The Cougars believe that they are due this time around.

“We are looking forward to taking them on again in our pathway for provincials,” Cowichan coach Darian Achurch said.

The first-round showdown kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
