With the B.C. Hockey League season just around the corner, the Cowichan Valley Capitals have announced three new additions to their coaching staff.

Head coach Brian Passmore and assistant Jamie Jackson have been joined by skills coach Jason Becker, strength and conditioning coach Connor Logan and goalie coach Alec Dillon.

Becker is originally from Saskatoon, and has coached at several levels, including the BCHL, Western Hockey League and Canadian Sport School Hockey League over the last 12 years. He previously played in the WHL from 1991-1995, at the University of Saskatchewan from 1995-2000, and in Europe from 2000-2009. He has also been and continues to be involved with Hockey Canada and BC Hockey high performance programs.

Logan, a product of Victoria, played in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings and Prince George Spruce Kings before he attended the University of Windsor and played hockey there for three years while becoming a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Originally from Nanaimo, Dillon played in the BCHL, U.S. Hockey League and WHL and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. After a brief collegiate career with the University of Victoria Vikes, he went on to become an assistant coach with that team and is now head coach, while also serving as a coach at the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy.

The Caps will open exhibition play on Sept. 3 with two games in Port Alberni. They play preseason home games on Sept. 6 against Nanaimo, Sept. 9 against Alberni Valley and Sept. 17 against Victoria. All home games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
