A golf tournament in memory of two major contributors to Cowichan Secondary School Thunderbirds basketball will take place at the Cowichan Golf Club this Saturday (Sept. 14).

Ted Webb was a teacher and coach at Cow High from 1975 to 2009, and will be inducted into the North Cowichan/Duncan Sports Wall of Fame this fall. Donna Dawe had two grandsons — Chris and Ryan Kline — play T-Birds basketball, and in addition to being a big fan, also supported the team by leading fundraising efforts, including running the annual golf tournament.

Dawe died unexpectedly in February 2018, and Webb died late last year after a three-year battle with myotonic dystrophy.

Entry into the tournament this Saturday costs $80 per golfer and includes nine holes, a cart and banquet. Banquet-only tickets are available for $30.
