The Gord Closson Oldtimers Fall Classic softball tournament is set to take place this weekend at Glenora’s Waldon Park.

The long-running event will get underway this Friday, with opening games at 6:30 p.m., and run through to Sunday afternoon.

The tournament marked its 50th year in 2019 and has always given back to the Cowichan Valley, with thousands of dollars handed back to the community over the decades. It managed to host events during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, but nearly took this year off as key organizer Joe DiLalla is in Vancouver recovering from a kidney transplant, but other folks stepped up to make it happen.

The tournament will include a silent auction and beer garden throughout the weekend.
