The Cowichan Rugby Football Club is one of several clubs in B.C. hosting a Girls Can Rugby event on Sunday, March 6.

Coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8, and in a Women’s Rugby World Cup year, 18 clubs across the province are taking part in the initiative from BC Rugby aimed at attracting and retaining girls under the age of 14.

Girls Can Rugby events will feature a range of activities, including learning how to pass and kick a rugby ball, as well as time for parents to ask clubs about the programs they offer. Participants should wear comfortable activewear and dress for the weather, with sneakers or cleats, and a water bottle.

The event at Cowichan RFC runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The club’s field is located at 1860 Herd Rd.
