Caps start well on Interior road trip

Cowichan beats host Vernon Vipers 3-1 on Friday

The Cowichan Valley Capitals got their three-game Interior roadtrip off to a good start by beating the Vernon Vipers 3-1 on Friday night.

Brady Lynn gave the Caps a 1-0 lead with just 33 seconds left in the opening period. The Vipers got that one back with a powerplay goal at 4:43 of the second, but Dan McIntyre restored Cowichan’s lead at 9:42.

Rookie Luc Wilson added some insurance with a powerplay goal midway through the third.

Jack Grant faced 36 shots in the Cowichan net and stopped all but one. Bradley Cooper made 27 saves for West Kelowna.

The Caps visit the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday night, then head to West Kelowna to face the Warriors on Sunday afternoon.
