Two years after their originally scheduled trip, the Cowichan Warriors will finally head to the Cal Cup field hockey tournament in Moorpark, California later this month.

It has been such a long delay for the Warriors that they have aged up a level. Slated to play in the U16 division when they entered the tournament in 2020, they will now play in the U19 division.

Regardless of how the team finishes, just sticking it out through two years of delays is a success in itself, parent Heather Goodman said.

“Each of these athletes should be applauded for their continued dedication to their team and this tournament,” Goodman commented. “We did have a couple drop and a couple add-ons. COVID-19 didn’t win this one.”
