Back-to-back victories for surging Cowichan Steelheads

Both local masters teams on the road this week in lead-up to local derby

The Cowichan Steelheads made it back-to-back wins in the Vancouver Island Soccer League’s masters A division with a 4-2 victory over Juan de Fuca Ghostfinger at the Sherman Road turf last Saturday night.

Kevin Smith, Marshall Wilkins, Travis Brown and Eric Nelson did the scoring as the Steelheads improved their record to three wins and two losses on the season, good for fourth in the division. The team will visit Gorge FC at Victoria’s Hampton Park this Saturday.

The division-leading Cowichan 49ers had last weekend off and will take their 5-0 record on the road to Juan de Fuca this Friday.

Both Cowichan teams are eagerly awaiting the local derby at the Sherman Road turf on Oct. 26.
