The Cowichan Lake area’s Atom League team will enter the playoffs this Saturday, as the top team in the league.

“We’ve only lost one game all year,” coach Mark Martin said, of the team’s performance thus far.

There have been a few ties, and a lot of close games, but Martin said, “We always pull it off.”

The championing nature of the local Atom team was made apparent last weekend, during a home exhibition game against the Alberni Valley Bull Pups – a game the local team dominated, with a final score of 12–4.

Next up for the team will be this weekend’s league playoffs.

The local Atom team will enter the playoffs with a home game, Saturday, March 12, beginning at 8 a.m.

Should the Atom Lakers win this game, the local champions will go on to a second game on Sunday, at Fuller Lake, beginning at 9:50 a.m.

If this second game ends in the Lakers victory, it will mean they’ve placed first in the playoffs.

The local Novice League team is also entering the playoffs this weekend.

The Gazette will keep up to date on these upcoming games as they take place.
