The atom Cowichan Bulldogs got a free ticket to the Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association Cup final this coming Sunday when the Victoria Spartans had to back out of their semifinal contest.

The Bulldogs and Spartans were supposed to square off at Forrest Field in Ladysmith last Saturday evening, but the Spartans forfeited the game, sending the Cowichan team straight to the championship showdown at the Nanaimo District Secondary School field this Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Bulldogs will face Nanaimo Seahawks White, who beat Nanaimo Blue in the other semifinal last weekend.

Two other Cowichan teams will play for Dogwood Cups this coming Saturday, also at NDSS. The peewee and junior bantam Bulldogs will play at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively
