Worst fears about pot bureaucracy coming to pass

In my research into why there are no retail pot outlets in the Cowichan Valley, I found that the CVRD is the culprit. Victoria and Nanaimo have a couple of stores. Apparently, the CVRD is taking its dear sweet time in getting its bylaws in line with provincial guidelines, laws.

We’re about two months into legalization. A lot of people presumed the bureaucracy would take its toll on legalization. Their worst fears are coming to pass. It looks like we are still months away from licensing in the Valley. All previous medical pot distributors, in waiting, have been exiled to industrial areas to make-do with paraphernalia. A shop in Nanaimo is in a strip mall. Since the CVRD seems to have bureaucratic power, maybe they should use at least two different guidelines when considering business licences, for corporate and non-corporate businesses. Locals, with all economic ethics taken into consideration, should be put on the “fast track” for licensing. Simply put, “Power To The People”.

There are liquor stores in almost every major shopping facility. Alcohol is literally poison, yet can be found legally just about anywhere. When it comes to alleviating ignorance, it’s a long train a-comin’.
