We must trust in Dr. Bonnie Henry

The COVID thing is disruptive, confusing and unsettling.

I understand that some people may not completely appreciate the efforts, resources and recommendations put forward by the Provincial Health Office and government. It is difficult, challenging with no simple answers except for total shutdowns or total health care breakdowns.

There are also disputed approaches and inconsistencies in the methods used by different local, regional, national and international governments. What was asserted as best approaches at one time are later minimized. Mitigation methods are asserted by some as being too strong, too late, not enough, ineffective, unfair, self serving, even unnecessary. No wonder people’s mental health and resiliency are being affected. The general population anxiety level has increased.

We ALL experience it.

It sucks!

What is left is trusting each other. Individually we need to do our best according to our abilities and resources. It will be different for different people in different situations but we need to have an anchor. For us, in British Columbia, it is our Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

We have to trust her and her team that they will guide us, assist us, to the best of their ability and resources available. They have a daunting job with many uncertainties and dreadful possible outcomes. Look around the world; who else do you really want to have as a Provincial Heath Officer?

She is our best bet. Let us join her in her effort to minimize the worst of the COVID crisis. Let us have pride and comfort every day for adhering to her advice. Let us support all essential workers by committing ourselves to her recommendations.

Collectively, WE are HER hope.

Individually, SHE is MY hope.

I hope she is yours too.
